Confirm the radiator is the problem

Overheating, coolant loss or a warning light can involve the radiator, but none of those symptoms proves that the radiator itself needs replacement. A leaking hose, loose clamp, faulty cap, damaged fan, thermostat problem, water-pump issue or internal engine fault can produce similar symptoms. Gather exact vehicle information

Compare provisions for a drain, temperature switch, sensor, fan control or other application-specific component. Check thread types and connector locations where relevant. A radiator should not be selected merely because its main hose connections appear correct.

Inspect a used radiator for visible damage

A visual inspection cannot reveal every leak or internal restriction, but it can identify clear problems and guide useful questions. View both faces, both tanks, the corners and every connection in good light. Dirt and bent fins can hide behind a fan shroud, so request current photos from several angles if you cannot inspect the unit in person.

Core and fin condition

Look for crushed areas, punctures, deep impact marks and rows of heavily folded fins. A few bent fins are different from broad damage that restricts airflow or reaches the coolant tubes.
