Finally a crossover - I drove the Peugeot 2008 briefly, also in the mud

There he stood, ready to board - the new Peugeot 2008. I had deliberately not read anything before and I also looked at the information from Peugeot today. Completely unbiased I experienced a short test drive around the area of Strasbourg. Peugeot 2008

No keyless go. The remote control opened the car. First the seat adjustment. Everything to do by hand. Seat distance to the pedals - check. Seat height - check by lever left (up or down). But then I missed a little the wheel on the left side. There was also a (further) lever for the backrest. Cumbersome, I found my position by bending the upper body. A small minus, but it could be made up for by the steering wheel's variable settings.

I adjusted the steering wheel by pulling it closer - due to my long legs - and even lowered it a bit. By the way, it is just as small as the Peugeot 208. The view of the instrument panel goes over the steering wheel, blue LED illumination surrounds the instruments.

My first grip on the shift knob made me a little scared. The 6-speed knob was kind of cold. Well, I told myself, then you just have to warm him up ... I turned the key in the vehicle lock. No start button, but a start/stop automatic. Do not mix up! Peugeot 2008

I released the handbrake. A very short, cuddly lever that should probably save space. In itself nicely thought, but the handling was unusual at first. Over time, you bother yourself less and less.

Shortly released the glass panorama roof from the electrically opening roller blind and it started. The blue light-emitting diodes were not visible during the day, that would take a night drive. I did not have that, but in the showroom the vehicle with lights was on, so you can see the special shapes of the front and rear lights.

Peugeot 2008 at "night"

I got another overview of the car:

The Peugeot 2008 has a length of 4.16 m and is 1.74 m wide. In comparison to the Peugeot 208, the 2008 has a 2 mm longer wheelbase (2.54 m) and is 69 mm higher. All versions of the 2008 are equipped as standard with ESP, which can be deactivated up to a speed of 50 km/h and includes several functions: Anti-Slip ASR, SSP (Steering Stability Program), Emergency Brake Assist and Electronic Brake Distribution EBV.

The Peugeot 2008 shoes are all equipped with M + S tires. Here are the 17 inch rims to see, there are also 15 and 16 inches.
The bumpers front and rear are unfortunately not painted in body color, which forgive a parking bump more, but I did not feel so nice. There are downwards stainless steel inserts.

When I got to the lake, I was thirsty. But I had something with me and went to the trunk.I then contented myself with the well-functioning sensors and the display in the touch display, which showed me green, yellow and red for the distance measurement. Later, I also tested the Parking Assistant, which makes both parking and parking possible.

Peugeot 2008

Freehand, I trusted the Peugeot 2008 and had fun! Only clutching, shifting and braking as well as carefully accelerating I had to.

Some technical information about Park Assist parking assistance: If the sensor has detected a sufficiently long gap at the roadside after activating it, this is indicated with a picture and text hint reported to the central display. This works with both right and left parking spaces. Now a tap on the touch screen is enough to park the car semi-automatically. The display shows everything you need to do.

The Hill Assist feature, available on all engine types except the 1.4L HDi (68hp) and the 1.2l VTi (82hp) is, in addition, makes it easier to park on slopes.

The highlight, however, was driving through the mud to test the grip control (available with tire sizes 215/60 R16 or 205/50 R17). The Grip Control is almost a traction help, because there is no 4-wheel drive.

Peugeot 2008

The patented Grip Control system in the Peugeot 2008 ensures optimum traction on different surfaces. This traction aid is an extended traction slip control, which adapts to the respective soil conditions. When starting the engine you are always in standard mode. You can switch over with the button in the center console: snow, terrain, sand, ESP Off.
It went into the terrain and I tested the thickest puddles and the muddiest subsoil. Worked very fine!

So good that the Peugeot Was a little dirtier in 2008, so before, see the proof image.

Anything else the connect apps that exist in Peugeot 2008:

Peugeot 2008

As a Plug & Play system, PEUGEOT Connect Apps offers the possibilities of using communication in 3G mode. The system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in the 17 countries covered with no additional roaming charges. So far 10 apps are available, it will soon come to an App Store that the number can be increased even more. Prices and dates are not known to me.

My short summary about the Peugeot 2008: for the target groups Conversion of other small cars, as a second car or as a cheap alternative to other SUV, which are already on the market. I could even imagine that the crossover is a woman's favorite. The Peugeot 2008 is worth its price, as it is not a luxury model. From 14,700 euros. I would certainly want to equip it a bit higher and take the largest engine as a diesel with the 6-speed gear. I would then already over 21,000 euros ... But it's not all like me. ; -)

I would like to point out the NewCarz report and thank you very much for the many photos (which I am on and some others) of Mikha, with whom I shared the Peugeot 2008.
